6ft 0″ Shooting Guard Jenelle Grant (pictured) is a product of junior clubs Haringey Angels and more recently Peckham Pride who joins off a vey successful summer with the England U16 Squad as they gained promotion to Division A after being crowned Silver medalists. Grant started every game for England where she averaged a very respectful 8.3 PPG & 6.4 RPG in 20 minutes of action. She is delighted to join the Topcats to help push herself for the rest of the season.

“So far I’ve really enjoyed being challenged. When you play with more skilled, experience and tougher players you have no choice but to raise your game. For the rest of the season I will continue to compete for court time and push myself as I feel I can really contribute to the team.”

The other addition is 5ft 7″ Guard Amber Charles who joins the club after a spell in the US at Tennessee Temple University where in her senior year filled up the stats line averaging 8.5 PPG, 4.63 RPG, 3.8 APG and a team high 3.2 SPG. Charles brings a lot of versatility at the wing position due to her defensive tenacity and hard nose play which is evident by picking up the teams ‘Hustle Award’ for the 2012/13 season.

Coach Vear is delighted to add both players to his squad.

“I was instantly impressed with Jenelle from the moment she came to practice. Her skill set and IQ are very high for a 16 year old and you add in her height for the wing position, she has a lot to bring to the table. Jenelle is really getting better and more comfortable at every practice which is great to see.”

Coach Vear turns his attention to Charles who brings what any coach wants from a player.

I have known Amber for a long time and always been a huge fan of her game. She is a coaches dream as she plays so hard and just gets on with it, especially on the defensive end. I know what I will get from her which is crucial as we start to make changes for the second part of the season.”

We want to welcome both Jenelle and Amber to the Topcats club and wish them all the success for the rest of the season.
