Brixton Topcats are pleased to announce that Steve Vear will be immediatey taking over the role of club chairman from the departing Andy Powlesland.
Due to a change in employment, Andy is relocating to the North West and the club is very thankful for all the hard work he put in behind the scenes for several seasons and we wish him every success in his new venture. Owner, Jimmy Rogers is sad to see Andy depart but grateful for his work at the club.
“I cannot thank Andy enough for all of his hard work within the club for so many years. He has been pivotal in elevating the Men’s program with the LSBU partnership as well as bringing in key funding. I want to wish him all the best for his new job and from everyone at the club, we want to thank you for your time at the Topcats Family.”
Steve Vear has been involved with the club as the Head Women’s Coach and also through the partnership the club has with the Luol Deng Foundation. Steve will continue these roles as well as taking over reins as chair which will help to strengthen the relationship the club has with the Foundation of our most famous alumni.
Rogers expressed his outlook on a bright future with Vear as the new appointed Chairman.
“Steve is a great, honest and passionate person who simply loves the game of basketball. He has been an asset since joining us with new ideas and concepts for the club. He is very well respected within the basketball community and has been instrumental in taking Luol’s Foundation to the forefront of UK basketball. I expect him to do the same for the Brixton Topcats. I couldn’t be happier with the new appointment and I look forward to working with Steve in taking the club forward in the right direction.”
