6ft 3′ Miriam Seale (pictured) a product of Haringey Angels and Barking Abbey has earned scholarships to the US attending the University of Alaska Anchorage and South Georgia College, where she averaged 9.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. She provides a real interior threat for Coach Vear’s team where Seale has been happy so far with how pre season has started for the Topcats.

“I’m really happy and optimistic for the upcoming season. In my career I’ve always been apart of incredibly talented teams which is no different here with the Topcats. I’m working hard to be able to contribute to the team and as always play my part in obtaining those W’s. With Coach Vear there is a different feel to Brixton basketball, the team is progressing well so it’s all been a positive experience so far.”

The other addition is 6ft 0′ Milly Watkins who is a much more familiar face to the UK’s top division having stints at Sheffield Hatters, Barking Abbey and more recently Sevenoaks Suns where last season she started every game and was a key player for the Kent side. She has also been happy with the start to pre season and ready for the new WBBL to tip off.

“I’m really excited for the WBBL to start. So far there has been a really good energy at practice and it’s great to be surrounded by an experienced group of players. I believe we’re going to be very competitive!”

Watkins will add key experience and more depth to the Topcats’ front court where Coach Vear is really happy to sign both high calibre players.

“It’s been an odd pre season so far where players have come in and then left to other teams and even got playing jobs abroad so having some stability recently has been crucial for our preparation. Adding inside presence was a big big emphasis for me so it’s been great to get such high level talent in both Miriam and Milly. I expect both of them to play pivotal roles in our first season in the top flight.”

You can see the new look WBBL team in action on Sunday 12th October where we are hosting a FREE ENTRY FOR ALL for our home opening games. More information on this great offer can be found by clicking HERE
