Team Great Britain’s Jenaya Wade-Fray will be returning to the WBBL this season adding an offensive punch to the roster.
There seems to be a recurring theme with Coach Steve Vear’s mindset for this upcoming season as Wade-Fray also joined late in last year’ campaign (like Charles and Grant) who will be ready to play a full season in the WBBL.
Wade-Fray made an instant impact last season where she piled in 19 points (5/9 from 3-PT), 4 assists and 4 steals on her debut against Manchester Mystics. She continued her solid form ending the season with averages of 13 PPG, 2 APG & 2.4 SPG in just 7 games for the Topcats.
Coach Vear touches on this year’s theme around having good teammates to create a positive energy around the team as well as drive the younger players development.
“Jenaya is not only a high quality player, but also person and teammate which is vital for us this season as we add new faces to the roster. We will announcing some of the talented younger players we have brought in and having Jenaya is huge for us to help their development.”
Wade-Fray is excited for the upcoming season.
“I’m excited about the upcoming season, happy to be back playing at Brixton and I am looking forward to what the season brings. Preseason has never been my favourite part of the year – with all the running and all, but I know it’s necessary and we are working hard as a team to get better with every training session.”
The Topcats will face off against Team Northumbria in the opening WBBL weekend on Saturday October 17th @ Loughborough University. More news on future signings will follow shortly.
