Brixton Topcats Division 2 Men’s team will have some new faces for the upcoming 2014/15 season, starting with a trio of signings.
The new additions include Jamal Tahraoui, Luke Baker and Daniel Dunscombe who will all make a huge impact at the club bringing a great reputation with them.
Jamal Tahraoui, a 19 year old 6ft 6″ shooting guard (pictured) was recently selected to be apart of the #DENGTOP50 as one of the most talented U19 players in the UK as well as being the former DENG Camp 2013 MVP. He will bring a whole array of skills to the Topcats and is a great addition to Coach Markham’s squad.
Sharp shooting Luke Baker is a well known name in England Basketball playing for numerous Division One outfits, with Medway Park Crusaders and Westminster Warriors. The 6ft 2″ guard is deadly from the three point arc who has caused many problems for teams up and down the country. The third edition is Daniel Dunscombe, who has just finished a season with Division One Essex Leopards as a core player to their success. The 6ft 9″ forward will bring a vast amount of skill set to the Topcats with his versatility to play both inside and out causing many match up problems.
Coach James Markham is thrilled with the new additions and is excited to continue to add more pieces to his squad:
“I am very excited to add these 3 players to the squad. All are competitive, versatile and each in their own right is a leader. Their ability to make perimeter shots will augment how our opponents play against us, their mere presence on the court will create more driving opportunities for their team mates. I’ve got a few surprises in store for them too, I’m going to get them to do things I don’t believe they’ve done to this point in their career that will make them more rounded players and us more potent offensively and defensively.”
The Topcats first home game is Sunday 14th September in the Patrons Cup versus Eastside Eagles, 4pm tip at Brixton Rec. Ticket information and further details will be announced shortly.
