Lady Topcats in Quarter Final Clash

December 4, 2013

LSBU Brixton Lady Topcats will be looking to continue their winning start to the season by advancing to the Semi-Final of the National Trophy on Sunday 8th December against Loughborough Riders II at Brixton Rec, 2pm tip off.

The Lady Topcats new look team have started red hot this season in Division 2 with only one defeat in all competitions coming to a close encounter with Division One outfit Barking Abbey. However, Head Coach Steve Vear isn’t allowing the winning record to call for complacency.

“Although we’ve had a great start to the season, we still haven’t done anything yet. We haven’t won any trophies which is what we are all fighting for this season. So far, we are on track and I’m happy with the way we are getting better each game”.

The Lady Topcats will need to ensure they are at their best to overcome their opponents, as the Riders are one of the best teams in the North who are winning every game convincingly and will be a great test for the home team. Coach Vear isn’t taking this game lightly and knows his team will need to be at their very best to advance to the semi-finals.

“We want tough games. Playing against Barking was a great test for us to see where we are as a team. We had them on the ropes and know we threw that game away. I expect nothing different about Loughborough who have a great program and will be a very well drilled team. We will need to be switched on for the full 40 minutes to advance to the semi final. I’m confident if we play our style and stick to our game plan we will be fine.”

The game is FREE of charge so make sure to get down to Brixton Recreation Centre at 2pm to cheer on the Lady Topcats in their quest to advance to the semi final of the National Trophy.
