Lady Topcats add Dymanic Duo

December 13, 2013

The LSBU Brixton Lady Topcats have added Charlene St Marthe and Taylor Hilton to their 2013/13 squad.

The Lady Topcats campaign has started very positively sitting top of Division 2 as well as advancing into the semi finals of the National Trophy, where the additions of both St Marthe and Hilton really help to boost the squad who are very much looking like a Division One outfit.

The addition of ex junior England International St Marthe, at the Point Guard position helps to give the Lady Topcats even more depth in the backcourt. St Marthe is a product out of the best female program in the UK, the Haringey Angels and suited up for NASSA in Division one last season. Head Coach, Steve Vear is delighted to add her to his roster.

“I wanted to sign Charlene at the beginning of the season but due to injury and timing it just didn’t work out. I’m really happy we could finalise this before the deadline. She brings a whole new dynamic at the point guard position as she is a very steady and smart player where she really fits in perfectly to our style of play. I expect Charlene to contribute a great deal to this team to help our future success.”

The other addition to the team is Taylor Hilton (pictured above), a 5ft 10 Small Forward out of William & Mary Tribe in Virginia, USA. In her final year she made 23 starts in 29 appearances finishing the year averaging 6.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Hilton brings a whole array of skill set being able to score inside and outside and will bring a lot of versatility to the Lady Topcats roster. Coach Vear explains how Hilton landed in Brixton and what she will bring to the team.

“Taylor literally landed on my lap via email. A close friend of mine said he was helping a coach out to find her a team and reached out to me. I invited her to practice and it was evident from the get go she could really play. She will bring a lot to our team, being able to play multiple positions as well as being a very good rebounder. The best news for me is that it hasn’t taken anytime at all to incorporate her into our offensive and defensive sets which really reflects how high her basketball IQ is. I’m excited as know we will all get to see a lot more from her as the season progresses”.

The Lady Topcats are in action tomorrow afternoon at 4pm away to St Albans where Taylor Hilton will make her debut. You can keep up to date with the Lady Topcats and all the teams by following us on both Facebook and Twitter @brixtontopcats
