WBBL Captain Mrashi Karumba has been included in the Great Britain senior squad ahead of the upcoming EuroBasket 2015 campaign.
The 5ft 11″ combo guard has impressed this season averaging 12.5 PPG & 4.7 RPG with game highs of 26 points against Manchester Mystics and also 23 points against one of the best defences in the WBBL, Nottingham Wildcats. Karumba is no rookie to international basketball, where she has represented both England and GB at the junior level where Head Coach Steve Vear believes she has a strong case of making the final squad.
“Mrashi is a competitor! I noticed that straight away where she simply hates to lose and elevates people’s intensity around her. I honestly believe she has a great shot of making the squad as she gives you so much on both ends of the floor, being an underrated defender as well as her ability to shoot beyond the arc.”
GB Head Coach Peter Buckle’s training camp also includes five others players in the WBBL with Stef Collins (Cardiff Met Archers); Helen Naylor, Stephanie Gandy (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters); Georgia Jones (Leicester Riders) and Chantelle Pressley (Nottingham Wildcats) also being invited, showing the immense talent the newly formed league has to offer.
From everyone at Brixton Topcats, we want to congratulate Mrashi on making the squad and wish her all the best of making the final cut to feature in EuroBasket 2015.
