England and Great Britain junior international Jenelle Grant will be returning to the Topcats for a full season in the WBBL after being added to last year’s roster late in the season.
The talented 6ft 0″ shooting guard made an instant impact for Coach Vear’s team last year where she proved to get better as the season progressed pouring in 12 points on the last game helping Topcats to a 53-34 victory against Leicester Riders.
She is excited to play a full season in the WBBL with high expectations after working hard in the off season.
“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming WBBL season. I have been working on all aspects of my game throughout the summer as I know that this year is going to even tougher than last season.”
Coach Steve Vear is putting high hopes on the young shoulders of Grant to be an impact player this season after seeing her dedication and hard work this summer to elevate her game to prepare herself for US college next year.
“Jenelle has really put in the hours this summer where she is a complete gym rat always wanting to work on her game when she can. We worked out during the DENGTOP50 camp every morning at 6am which really shows a high level of commitment to her development.”
“I really expect Jenelle to have a standout season being one of our main players on both ends of the floor. She is capable of doing this, as long as she continues to push herself like she has been doing. Jenelle’s had a lot of interest and scholarship offers from D1 colleges in the USA which is testament to her talent – we just need to keep her progressing to be ready for that environment and level in the next step of her career.”
The Topcats will face off against Team Northumbria in the opening WBBL weekend on Saturday October 17th @ Loughborough University. More news on future signings will follow shortly.
