5ft 7″ US Combo Guard Ta’Yani Clark has arrived for the WBBL team as they look to make a push up the table for the second half of the season.
Clark is no stranger to the top flight league in England where she has previously suited up for Team Northumbria for the past five seasons where in the 2012/13 season she averaged an incredible 19.80 PPG & 10.9 RPG. She lands at a perfect time for the WBBL outfit who have found life hard in it’s first year in the top league where the addition of Clark will certainly help to strengthen the squad. Head Coach Steve Vear is delighted to land such a high calibre player.
“It’s no secret how talented Ta’Yani really is, where for me she has been the best player that the women’s game has seen over here for the last 5 years. Adding such a high level talent is huge for us but her leadership skills and winning attitude is what I feel she will really bring to the team.”
Ta’Yani is excited to join the Topcats but is under no illusion it’s going to be an easy task for the rest of the season.
“Being apart of a new team isn’t always easy but since joining the team everyone has made me feel welcome which has helped adjusting that little bit easier. Obviously I want to win which all my teammates and coaching staff want to as well. However, we also understand that we have an uphill battle and we have to make the most of every opportunity.”
Ta’Yani and the rest of the WBBL team will next be in action against Sevenoaks Suns on Sunday 1st February at Brixton Rec with a 4pm tip off.
The Topcats also hope to announce a further signing in the next week.
